Margaret Rosa Obituary

Margaret Mills Rosa, 77, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on February 24, 2026. Born on March 22, 1948, to John and Frances Mills, Margaret was a lifelong Wilmington resident whose life was rooted deeply in faith, family, and community.

She grew up in the Fairfax neighborhood, where she formed lifelong friendships and developed the strong values that would guide her throughout her life. She attended St. Mary Magdalen grade school and graduated from Ursuline Academy before continuing her education at Immaculata College. Her Catholic education shaped her enduring faith and commitment to serving others.

Margaret devoted the first sixteen years of her married life to raising her family as a full-time homemaker, a role she embraced with energy and pride. She created a home that was warm and welcoming — a place where memories were made.

Later, she began a second chapter in her professional life as a Driver Education teacher at St. Mark’s High School, where she taught for more than 20 years. Over the course of her career, she taught more than 3,000 students how to drive. For many Wilmington families, Margaret was a steady and reassuring presence in the passenger seat during an important milestone in their children’s lives. Her patience, calm demeanor, and steady guidance helped generations of students gain not just driving skills, but confidence.

It was at St. Mark’s where she met her beloved husband of 54 years, Tom. Their shared dedication to education became the foundation of a partnership built on faith and family, and their life centered on serving the St. Mark’s community, their children, and their grandchildren.

Summers were especially meaningful to Margaret. She and Tom cherished time spent at their beach home, where she found joy in reading, quilting, and simply watching her grandchildren play.

Margaret was a devoted mother to Matthew Rosa and his wife, Constance; Ellen Rosa-Taylor and her husband, Chad; and Daniel Rosa. Nothing brought her greater pride than her seven grandchildren — Than, Aubrey, Shane, Jack, Charlotte, Lindsey, and Cameron — each of whom she loved deeply and supported wholeheartedly.

An avid quilter, Margaret expressed her creativity and care through every stitch. She deeply enjoyed the artistic process, finding peace and satisfaction in selecting fabrics, arranging patterns, and bringing each piece together. Like the quilts she made, Margaret’s life was carefully pieced together with intention and care. Each piece reflected her quiet dedication and attention to detail, and they will remain tangible reminders of her presence for years to come.

Margaret’s life was defined by constancy — to her faith, to her family, and to her community. She was a friend to all and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and steady devotion that will continue through the lives she shaped.
